THE LUXURIOUS 2016 BUICK CASCADA

The 2016 Buick Cascada, a sleek four-passenger convertible with all the safety features, electronics and appointments of a luxury car, will be introduced during the coming model year. Whether in open-air mode or with the top closed, the beautiful exterior profile lends a sense of solid construction mixed with an impression of speed, agility and fun.

When the 2016 Cascada becomes available, it will the first convertible by Buick in about twenty-five years. This four-seater has been designed in Europe and will come with a powerful 1.6 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine generating 200 horsepower. The Cascada will have front-wheel drive with a six-speed automatic transmission. It rides on 20-inch aluminum wheels and comes with four-wheel disc anti-locking brakes (ABS) and GM’s stability control system.

As Buick and GM become truly global with their design inspirations, we begin to see fewer “traditional” features and many more creative and stylistic elements in their designs. The new Cascada is an excellent example of this approach. Unlike convertibles of the past when cars were designed as hardtops with a convertible option, the Cascada was drawn from the very start as a convertible. Thus there were no compromises in this design to accommodate both styles.
The new Buick Cascada is truly a step into the future. If putting the top down becomes a sudden whim as the weather changes, the top can be automatically lowered in 17 seconds while driving at 31 mph.

Some other technological and safety features will include a 7-inch diagonal color touch screen to handle your text message alerts, a navigation system, 4G LTE capability with a Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar. The Cascada also comes with electric seat belt presenters for easy buckling, deployable rollover protection bars and a lane departure warning system. In addition, the Cascada will come equipped with rear park assist with camera and rain-sensing windshield washers.

The soft-touch leather interior features authentic stitching. Heated front seats and steering wheel offer the driver some additional warmth when driving in colder conditions. To allow passengers easier access to the rear, the front seats automatically shift forward by simply pressing forward on the rear of the front seats.

Since some of the Cascada’s time will likely be spent with the top up, Buick has designed superior insulation to reduce road noise and preserve a comfortable ambient temperature in the cabin. When the top is lowered, it automatically folds into a space behind the rear seats while the back deck opens to the rear. Once the top is seated in place, the compartment is automatically enclosed under a hard tonneau cover. The resulting smooth profile further enhances the sleekness of this open-air ride.
